Welcome to J’aime Lire

Welcome to J’aime Lire – our new online book club!

If you love to read or want to love to read and are connected to the Internet – join the book club! Just send me an email with your email address and I'll send you the link to become a contributor.

Since we srated back in 2007, we have read quite a few books, which you can see in the sidebar.

We take turns hosting the discussion each month, and whoever is in charge of the discussion chooses the book. Usually we try to have the discussion the last week of each month.

For now, let’s start with introductions. Just post your answers as a comment:
- Who are you?
- Where are you?
- What do you enjoy reading?
- What are a few of your all-time favorite books?
- Tell us any of the books on our list you may have read.

We are excited to have you!

I guess I better introduce myself, too. Melissa Wheeler in Savannah, Ga - but from Poulsbo, Wash. Fiction is my favorite - whether it's a western, mystery, fantasy, historical, etc...

My favorite books are "Time of the Butterflys," "Broken for you," "Time Traveler's Wife," and the "Emily of New Moon" series by LM Montgomery. As for my 2 books... I need to think about that a little more.

Hey there!

Kim here from Fullerton, California. I love fiction books. I'm currently reading a book about Women and why they commit the crimes they do (I got the book ten years ago when I was in college and figured why not actually read the thing. (: ).
What would I like to read? Let me get back to you on that after I cruise Borders. (:

Hi Kim! Nice to meet you.

Alright, I did a little Borders and Barnes and Noble cruising myself. Here are my suggestions for the jar:

1.) 'I Capture the Castle'
by Dodie Smith (Smith is author of 101 Dalmations & this is JK Rowling's fav book.)

2.) 'Mutiny on the Bounty'
by Charles Nordhoff. My mother-in-law highly recommends this, and she knows how to pick a good book.

Hello everyone! My name is Michelle Pitcher and I'm in Provo, Utah. I love fiction... but mostly fantasy, but this'll be good to help me realize what else is out there!
Let's see, my favorite books would have to be "Pride & Prejudice" (well, anything Jane Austen) and the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. Books to add... not sure yet. I'll get back to you on that one!

Hi, I'm Catherine Morrissey. Currently I am in Raleigh, NC, but home right now is Savannah, GA.
I'll read anything that I think is interesting, like that book on the volcano Krakatoa, but mostly stick to fiction and children's series.
My favorite books are anything Jane Austen but especially P&P, Harry Potter, Little House on the Prairie, Narnia, LOTR, and the list goes on...
My 2 books, I'll have to think about b/c I already submitted a bunch when we tried this thing last fall. I'll have to go 'shopping'.

Okay... I found two books. I was just checking out sites Mel mentioned and they looked interesting. I don't have anyone's reccomendation for them so I have no idea whether they are good or not...
1. 'No Graves as yet' by Anne Perry

2. 'The Thirteenth Tale: A Novel' by Diane Setterfield

I've never even heard of the authors before, so I dunno. Maybe one of you has heard good things.

I don't know about the Anne Perry book, as I've never read any of hers - but I have heard that The Thirteenth Tale is really good. I think those will be some great additions to the book club jar.

Alright, what about the rest of you?

Hello everyone. I am Suzanne. I have kept up with this blog since its inception, and I've even been able to read most of the books. I'm just shy about posting. Forgive me.

I just moved to Ansbach, Germany and I'm having so much fun here. I am lucky enough to live right behind the post library so guess where I am during my free time.

I enjoy reading all different kinds of books but my favorites are fantasy, sci-fi, memoirs and apocalyptic (that took me a while to figure out how to spell) fiction.

My favorite books are Fahrenheit 451, Ender's Game, Stolen Lives, The Glass Castle, and many more.
